But it's greyed out, so I can't even enable it to see if it would help me. I looked at the plugins, the export settings but the only thing I can find is that in the options for fbx export, the "Include texture info" is inactive. And Unity obviously can't properly skin my rig to the. obj doesn't allow to export the joints, the skin. I can paint on it in Mudbox, I can import it into Unity, all great.īut.

When I export the mesh as obj, everything fine. No matter what, whenever I export it as a fbx (either by exporting all, via Game Export or via Export Selected), the UV ends up as this: So I have a mesh and I properly laid out the UVs for it. This tool would allow functions like light mapping to go 100x easier - allow for more control in level building - and make for a happy 3d artist.I have been exporting meshes for the last three years without this ever happening and all "solutions" I found online were to different issues. Then you can move around the models in the 3d App (like Maya) and re import the whole mess back in to Unity with changes intact. It would be great to have a button to Export the scene to a 3d app (or save out as a FBX) - from terrain to models to lights and perhaps even camera locations.

A chunk of it comes from one Maya fbx file - but other parts - other members of the team add in, or use prefabs, they tweak models, move lights and so on.

The problem for is when I have a full scene assembled in Unity. More so when you start to add in programmers and QA - many hands string the pot. If you are working with a distributed team over the net - people send you assets at different times, other people work on the scene. My wish for updates to unity is one to make the Artists life easier.
